To get to know who I am, I wanted to have a blog post sharing a few interesting things about me
1. I have two middle names. Aaliah Chrystella ***** Joseph
For privacy reasons, I prefer not to share what it is but know that it has double letters just like my first 2 names and it is after a saint because I was baptized All Saints Day.
2. I have curly hair.
To be more specific, I am the only grandchild without straight hair. My immediate family and cousins have straight hair. However, I have curly hair.
3. Most people are either confused by my background or get it wrong.
Whenever people guess where I am from, they go with Trinidad, Guyana or India. And they are all wrong but close. I am from the Caribbean but was born in St.Lucia, a smaller island that barely anyone has heard of.
My mom’s side of the family is mainly of Indian-Caribbean descent while my father is very mixed, so I just fall in the middle, very confused until I can get a dna test done. This also explains why I have curly hair.
4. I am a dog person.
My sassy, spoilt and part Chihuahua named Chocolate who is 4-years old. Just like me, we do not really know what breed he is.
5. I have only moved twice in my life.
The first time was when I was 3, when my grandparents built their current house, and when I was 19, I moved to Canada to start university. I went from living with my grandparents to living with my mother.
6. I found my half sister after 15 years because of Facebook.
If it wasn’t for social media, I probably would never have found her. I had only met her when she was a baby and never again. We reconnected back in August and might be more alike than I would have expected.
7. Take-off is always my favourite part of plane rides.
The first time I was on a plane, I was about to turn 4 years old. The take off was my favourite part. Almost 20 years later, take off is still my favourite part. Not so much landing. And I love the window seat.
8. “3” is my favourite number
There is just something about the number 3 that has always been my go -to. If I go over something, I check it 3-times. If I try to contact someone, I will only try 3-times before giving up. I ensure that the door is actually locked when leaving the house 3-times.
9. All my jewelry is custom designed and I still wear my baby necklace and ring.
Every few years, I got a piece of gold custom designed jewelry, so I have built quite a collection. Currently I have 2 necklaces, 2 pairs of earrings, 1 bracelet, 3 rings, 3 pendants and 2 watches. My go-to jewelry includes my “A” earrings, baby necklace, cross pendant, bracelet and rings.
If you are wondering how does baby jewelry still fit, honestly I have no idea. If you are wondering how I am responsible, know that I lost my first necklace, and chew off a heart pendant.
10. I have 16 filled journals and only started in 2017.
This is another collection that I am proud that I have built over the years. Starting from July 2018, I have written at least 2-pages every single day. I guess I have a lot to say.
