The Day I Have Been Looking Forward To – Reading Week 2020

A girl trying to sleep

The clock has struck midnight and its officially February 14th. Its valentines day and some people are celebrating something special, be it a birthday or anniversary. I am just happy because reading week has officially started for me.

I don’t have classes on Fridays this term and neither do have to go to the office tomorrow, so thats why I am happy. It was the day I was looking forward to, since I woke and since school started.

Now for anyone who is confused what the hell is reading week. Its kind of like the Canadian version of spring break. I’m not sure if every Canadian uni has reading week in February, but I believe the majority [if not all] universities in Ontario has a break this coming week. Normally our terms are only 12 weeks ish, ending in April, so it makes sense for the break to be in February.

Honestly I am just excited to not have to wake up to alarm for a few days or have to worry about commuting or assignments. I just need a few days to sleep in, catch up on some tv shows and be a lazy bum. I’m too broke to go anywhere. Plus, I have 2 midterms when I get back to school, on the same day and an essay due on Monday night. Thats why I can’t take the whole week off, but at least I can get a few days for myself. Maybe write and schedule some posts because I have the time to put into it and it would not be me rambling and ranting all the time. Maybe read a book.

Sometimes in life you just need a break. And after the week I’ve had, I need a break. So happy to get it.

  1. OMG Me too! It is reading week for me as well and I really needed a break from the school craziness. It’s hard for me to relax until I’ve checked everything off of my list so sadly, I’m spending Sunday evening working on an assignment. *sigh*

    1. Yayyyy. Everyone needs a break from school. No way that we would have been able to survive till the end of the term without one.
Don’t worry. I am spending my Sunday night/Monday morning as well trying to work on an essay that’s due in less than 24 hours

      1. In the past, Fall semester didn’t even have a reading week. Shocking, I know. How students survived without one I have no idea.

If it makes you feel any better, I’m currently working on a stupid concept map assignment that’s due right after reading week. I hate these things because they’re so time consuming and difficult to read. Ew, an essay that’s due during reading week? They truly are monsters 🙇‍♀️

      2. I know right. How can you survive without a reading week. Recently my school made a fall reading week. Before we only had 2 days off. Can you believe that? So I know how bad it is.

The concept map assignment seems bearable to the essay. True they are monsters putting things due during our break, but the essay was originally due on Saturday night and the prof extended it till Monday. So I don’t mind. Though the 2 midterms on one day straight after I get back from the break, now thats even worse.
